According to recent claims from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a commutation application for review by the presidential administration.

Special Treatment Claimed at Federal Prison

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a source provided information indicating Maxwell is preparing the clemency petition. They also stated she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House judiciary committee, declared in a official statement that the prison’s warden was assisting Maxwell with document preparation and submission to support her bid for clemency.

The exact content of the “commutation application” are unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, Maxwell has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the warden has individually organized private meetings for her and her guests.

The visits reportedly involve a designated private space for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to bring computers, which Raskin described as an exceptional measure given the potential danger and chance of unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other prisoners, Maxwell was provided directions about instructing her contacts to call and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The whistleblower further reportedly told House Democrats that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers promptly, she reportedly employed the warden as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release indicates that those writing to her would send files directly to the warden, who would provide them to the inmate, who would review and edit them and return them to the official to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Additional Privileges Alleged

Other privileges reportedly provided to Maxwell include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a perk typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the facility's gym.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

In a statement, the White House said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the spokesperson noted.

Context and Developments

Recently, reports surfaced that she told friends and family in emails from prison that she was more content at the Texas facility than her previous prison.

This past summer, she was moved from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most inmates are serving time for financial and non-violent crimes.

This move, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just days after she was interviewed about the Epstein case by the senior justice official, the official, who also previously served as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation and amid intense speculation around Trump's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Congressional Response

In the news release, the congressman also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, requesting explanations about the insider's claims, and urged the chief executive to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this adjudicated and remorseless sex offender,” Raskin wrote in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with puppies to play with, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that the official attend a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also posed three questions to the President.

Raskin asked whether he had discussed a potential commutation for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether Maxwell, her attorneys, relatives or representatives have made any commitments to the President or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a reply to the inquiries by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court declined to hear an appeal from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
