It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Finally, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a platform to produce her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her bow and seven international trophies have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because I feel like I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was removed Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we know we can achieve it."

That comment will be the last rival teams at this championship should hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
